We have designed a complex interface for an AI tool for retailers which enables them to generate product recommendations for customers. This interface allows retailers to access data about the products and see what customers are looking for, so that they can make more accurate and informed recommendations. The first case study for this project was about understanding the data and using it to recommend better products. Our AI tool takes into account customer behaviour, purchasing history, preferences, and current trends to match the best products with the customer. This helps to improve customer satisfaction and increase sales.

Research

We began the project by conducting user research, resulting in the classification of three types of personas: Customers, Product Planning Managers, and Store Managers. Utilizing user stories, we secured the requirements for each persona. To gain further insight, a Service Blueprint was created to delineate the various touch-points and how the tool could be integrated into the retail business process.

Design System

We developed a UI Kit based on their design system, which included the optimal use of every component. We also designed multiple charts, ranging from standard bar charts to more intricate diagrams such as Sankey Diagrams. Furthermore, we outlined a comprehensive navigation system.

Wireframes

To ensure a consistent experience throughout our platform, we collaborated with teams located in England, India, and Costa Rica. We created wireframes and low-fidelity mockups to better visualize our design decisions.

Category Performance and Cannibalization Analysis

The second part of the process was to construct a dashboard that would allow users, such as store and product planning managers from larger retail companies, to visualize the cannibalization analysis of their products and categories, enabling them to make informed decisions about for example new product launches.

The Challenge
